A live face. A one-to-one match.

Stay verification pairs an identity document with an active live capture before the booking journey proceeds. The server-side vision check compares the live selfie with the face on the identity document, returns a same-person judgement and similarity score, and checks whether the selfie appears live.

Document

The identity document is read and assessed before the face step. The flow can surface low-confidence, tampering or barcode concerns instead of silently treating the document as verified.

Biometric face comparison

A live selfie is compared one-to-one with the identity-document image. In this flow, it is a same-person face match for the presented document, not a search across a public face database.

Liveness & review

The active liveness result is combined with vision signals. Inconclusive results can require a retake or route to an authorised review path rather than being automatically passed.

Identity & biometric consent

I consent to Ikhayalami processing my identity-document images or PDF, the identity information and barcode data on the document, a live facial capture, facial landmarks and a face-match score for Stay identity verification, fraud prevention, booking safety and dispute handling. I understand that biometric information is special personal information under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013; that automated checks are advisory; and that I may retake a capture, re-upload my identity document, or, where the uploaded file has been confirmed as an identity document and no tampering or barcode conflict is detected, submit an inconclusive match to the accommodation provider for assessment. I understand that, once my request is ready for a host decision or check-in, my verified legal identity details and identity-document copy may be disclosed securely to that accommodation provider for booking security and applicable guest-register duties, while my live selfie, facial landmarks and raw barcode payload remain restricted to authorised Ikhayalami reviewers and approved operators. Evidence is access-controlled, retained only for the configured verification, accommodation-register and dispute period, and then deleted or de-identified unless a longer lawful hold applies. I may contact Ikhayalami to exercise applicable access, correction, objection or withdrawal rights, but withdrawal may prevent use of Stay where identity verification is necessary for platform safety.
